Fabric!!

Ahhhhh!! As I was posting my last post guess what came!?!?! My fabric for my pillows! Yay!

Sooo excited to see what they look like in person!! I ordered them from onlinefabricstore.com. Great prices and it came in less than a week!

Alright friends...I'm going to go open my package and see if I still love the fabric I chose!

Pictures to follow :)

Wooden trough

So here's my other project I made yesterday: a wooden trough!

I got the idea from hobby lobby. I saw a really cool wooden trough with handles but it was $30(!!!) Wayyy too expensive for me! So, I figured I could make one!

Here's how I did it:
I got a used pallet from my father-in-law (he works at a lumber yard) and ripped it apart (that took a lot of muscle!) Then I measured and cut 5 pieces. (2 long ones, 2 short ones and 1 long one for the bottom) then I nailed it together and stained it.

I think it came out pretty nice don't you think?

Mason jar wall art

Hey all!

Happy 4th!

So I've been busy crafting and I wanted to show you what I made!

I made 3 Mason jar wall art. Here's how I did it: I cut 3 pieces of wood that I had left over from my pallet. I painted them white and blue. Then I drilled two holes for the wire. I attached the Mason jars to the wood with the wire.
Finished product: 3 bucks!!

I would say that's pretty cheap :)

I plan on hanging them in my living room...what do ya think?!

Rainy day crafting

Hey all!

So in this rainy weather I decided to get crafty and make some placemats for my dining room table. Like I said I am in the process of redecorating so I wanted to change up my placemats. I used burlap and it was actually pretty easy (and cheap!)

Each mat says something different (eat, munch, nibble and feast). I also bought flowers and added them in for some color :)

Next project is a table runner for my coffee table!

Oh! I got all my supplies from hobbylobby (LOVE that store!!) Which was super cheap!

Barn sale finds

Hey everyone!

Soooo I went to the barn sale right after work and guess what? I found a ton of cool stuff! Here's some of the stuff I got today:

Old milk jug (which is huge by the way!), a big trunk, an old egg weigher, a small ice cream churn, some Mason jars and a couple old wooden squares.

I cannot believe all the cool stuff! The man said he gets new stuff all the time so I definitely plan on going back. There were some old chairs I really liked but I wasnt ready to take the plunge on that.....yet.

Barn Sale

I am so excited!! I got up early this morning (before I had to go to work) to see if there were any yard sales around this weekend...and guess what?!?! There is a barn sale going on today....a BARN SALE!!! AHHHHHH!!! I can only imagine the cool stuff I might find! But before I get to go rummaging through a barn, I have to work.

SO....

stay tuned for pictures and descriptions of all my cool finds :)

Welcome to our blog!

Hey there!

We are the Junk Yard Girls :) Taking trash and turning it into something beautiful. Since we finally have time to breathe (school is out!) we decided to spend our time wisely and redecorate :) Well, I decided to redecorate; Andrea is moving into a trendy new apartment downtown and needs new furniture to make it her own. So, as you probably know, teachers are on a limited budget, so we decided that instead of buying new stuff (that costs A LOT) we would buy old, used stuff and make it our own. This blog will serve as a diary, a timeline, an outlet and more importantly, a way to share all of the cool stuff we find. We will post all of the successes we have and all the struggles we face trying to turn trash into treasures.

So hang on for the ride, it's gonna be a bumpy one!
